The Photography Of Edward Steichen

About three years ago, my daughter and I attended an exhibit of  Edward Steichen photography. It was some of the most gorgeous photography I had ever seen. The work is so iconic, that people are probably familiar with him and don't even know it. 

Edward Steichen worked for Vanity Fair and Vogue from 1923 to 1938. He was considered one of the best and was the most highly paid photographer of his time. 

He served in both World Wars. Multi talented, Steichen directed a movie, The Fighting Lady which won an academy award for best documentary in 1945. After World War II and until 1962 he also was curator of photography at New York's Museum Of Modern Art. He passed away at the age of 97 in 1973.
